Comparing Plastic and Concrete Septic Tanks

If you are considering buying a domestic septic tank then our rotomoulded products are up to the task.

We offer a smaller 1,500-litre pump out chamber, as well as more heavy duty 3,000-litre and 6,000-litre septic tanks. All our domestic underground septic tanks are proven performers and manufactured in strong yet durable polyethylene plastic which is 100% recyclable. Still not convinced plastic is best for you? We compare how our septic tanks measure up to concrete models.

Concrete Septic Tanks

Concrete as a material does have a durable quality if you’re looking at using it as a septic tank. Concrete septic tanks can last for several decades but they are susceptible to cracks early on if the concrete itself is not high quality, or later on if the tank hasn’t been maintained properly. Cracks in the concrete means that waste can leak out or allow groundwater in. Neither scenario is ideal and can cause big problems that aren’t an easy fix. Also concrete is a heavy material so a tank made of it is not that easy to install and it is also much more expensive than plastic.

Plastic Septic Tanks

Plastic tanks on the other hand are very resistant to cracking and generally remain watertight throughout their lifespan. Plastic is a much lighter material than concrete making transport to the location and installation of the septic tank a breeze. As it is a lighter material, care does need to be taken that it isn’t damaged during installation and it should be inspected regularly for low effluence, to make sure everything is working normally. In general, a plastic septic tank is more cost-effective and more hygienic than a concrete septic tank.

If plastic sounds like it’s a winner, check out Global’s rotomoulded domestic septic tanks on offer and give us a call on 1800 666 333 to discuss your requirements.

Rotomoulding Innovations: New Septic Tank Concept Becomes Reality

Rotomoulding Innovations: New Septic Tank Concept Becomes Reality | Global Tanks | Brisbane

Have you heard the news? Our new septic tanks have landed! From concept design to product prototyping and testing, we take a look at the development process of our stellar new range…

1. Septic tank concept design

At Global Tanks, every new product begins with a research and development phase. We use our expert technical skills, combined with our unique alliances with world-class product engineers, to develop plastic products that research indicates will fill a gap in the market.

For example, the primary objective of our septic tank collaboration was to come up with a product with decreased weight, reduced production costs, and easier installation for plumbers. Traditionally, concrete septic tanks have been very difficult to install and transport because of their heavy weight and bulky build. We wanted to change that.

2. Product prototyping and testing

After we had come up with a few good designs, we put them to the test. Prototyping and evaluation is a very important part of Global’s manufacturing process because it confirms that our product works as it is supposed to, or if it needs refinement.

We rigorously tested our septic tank designs, identified potential faults, and made improvements. One aspect of our new septic tank range that we are particularly proud of is the moulded in lifting lugs. We added these to the design for easier installation and handling.

Other standout features include:

  • Large lid for easy cleaning access.
  • 100mm DWV pipe.
  • Ready to connect to the sewer/disposal area.
  • The 4500 litre unit utilises a deep inlet (575mm deep).
  • Lightweight polyethylene construction.
  • Includes a factory fitted baffle.

3. Rotomoulding plastic in an imaginative way

What sets Global’s new septic tank range apart from other septic tanks already on the market, is that they are manufactured using cutting-edge technology and world-class equipment. Rotomoulding (or rotational moulding) has significantly grown in popularity over the past 5 years. But, with over 32 years of experience under our belt, we believe that we’re Australia’s most proficient custom moulder.

After we had made our septic tank moulds, the manufacturing process was fast and relatively cost-effective. Rotomoulded septic tanks are made from one piece of solid plastic instead of several different components requiring bolting or welding together.

This means that our septic tanks have greater durability and are less likely to fall apart or break due to weak joints or corroded weld lines. Rotomoulded products also have a greater uniform wall thickness, excellent load-bearing properties, and are rust and corrosion resistant, which means that they have a longer lifespan and a lower risk of leakage.

And, I’m sure we can all agree that we definitely do not want that to happen!

Benefits of Rotomoulded Septic Tanks

In case you haven’t heard yet, we recently announced the release of our new septic tank range, UbiAqua, and we are very excited about it!

From their innovative design to their light weight structure, and strong rotomoulding build, here are 4 reasons why we think plumbers will love our new septic tank range too!

Global’s full range of hiqh-quality and easy-to-install wastewater treatment systems and septic tanks available at UbiAqua. Visit now and see for yourself.

1. They take less time to install

Depending on the plumbing company you decide to work with, traditional concrete and metal septic tanks typically take around 3-7 days to install with extensive digging and land excavation. Because of their heavy weight, they also usually require some form of heavy lifting equipment or machinery.

In contrast, Global’s new septic tank range is lightweight and easy to install. The septic tanks come with moulded-in lifting lugs to make the installation process as easy as possible, and they arrive on your doorstep completely assembled and ready to connect to the sewer/disposal area — no extra steps needed!

2. Fewer tools are required

Because our new septic tanks are delivered completely assembled (with a factory-fitted baffle), plumbers will need little to no extra tools to connect our tanks to the sewer. In other words, a job which once would have required lots of tools, time, and patience, now only requires the bare minimum. We love simplicity!

3. They don’t crack when you are installing them

One of the most common complaints we hear from plumbers about plastic tanks is that they are too delicate and easy to damage if care is not taken (especially during transportation or while they are being installed). Global’s new tank range eliminates this issue via rotomoulding, a process which strengthens the tank’s structure and offers greater durability.

Our septic tanks are manufactured using premium, UV stabilised, high-strength polyethylene. And, the rotomoulding process dictates that they are made from one solid piece of plastic instead of welding or bolting together various components.

As a result, our new septic tank range is more impact resistant and less prone to cracking during installation.

4. They are easy to maintain and clean

Septic tanks regularly require cleaning, pumping out, and routine maintenance. Thankfully, our septic tanks are a lot easier to look after than concrete or metal tanks. They are rust and corrosion resistant, which means that they have a longer lifespan and a lower risk of leakage. And, they can withstand harsh chemicals and hazardous materials, which means that your plumber will never have to worry about damaging your septic tank during the cleaning process.

Introducing Global’s Easy-to-install Septic Tanks

Introducing Global’s easy-to-install septic tanks | Global Tanks | Brisbane

The next generation of septic tanks have arrived!

At Global Tanks, we’re passionate about using the latest rotomoulding technology to design and manufacture world-class polyethylene products. And our new septic tank range is no exception:

3,000 litre domestic underground septic tank
6,000 litre domestic underground septic tank

With an innovative design, durable structure, and lightweight plastic build, not only are our new septic tanks cutting edge in terms of their ease of installation, but they also set a new benchmark for quality and functionality in the way wastewater is treated.

Want to know more?

Here are 3 reasons why we think our new septic tank range offers stellar value and top-notch wastewater treatment:

1. They are easier to install and maintain

Unlike traditional metal and concrete septic tanks, our plastic septic tanks are lightweight, easy to transport, and more cost-effective to install. They don’t require heavy equipment to be lifted or moved, and they can be put in place quickly and efficiently by a small team.

They also come with moulded-in lifting lugs for simple installation and a large lid for easy cleaning access. In addition, they’re designed to resist hydraulic floatation when 10mm gravel has been used to backfill around the installed unit (warranty requirement).

The best part? They will arrive on your doorstep completely assembled (including a factory fitted baffle) so that you can get your tank delivered and installed on the same day!

2. No rust, corrosion, or cracking

One of the greatest benefits of using a Global septic tank over a traditional concrete septic tank is that they are manufactured with premium, UV stabilised, food-grade safe polyethylene. They’re also watertight, well-fitted, easy to repair, and provide less of an unpleasant sewage smell than other septic tanks that aren’t so tight-fitting.

Different to concrete tanks which typically crack or break down after a number of years of use, our septic tanks are also rust and corrosion resistant, which means that they offer a longer lifespan and a lower risk of leakage. In other words, you could potentially save a lot of money over the long-term!

3. Strong rotomoulding design

Our septic tanks are manufactured using an advanced rotomoulding process. This means that they are made from one piece of lightweight plastic, instead of welding or bolting together various heavy components. As a result, our septic tanks have no weak weld lines, side seams, joints, rivets, or screws. In short, they offer greater durability, strength, and sturdiness because there is no chance of them collapsing or falling apart due to stress points.

In addition, the precise application of molten plastic means that we can create septic tanks with ribs and a uniform wall thickness (even at corners and angles) so that they are structurally more sound and have great load-bearing properties.

Safety standards and certifications

At Global Tanks, we take great pride in delivering products that comply with Australian safety and manufacturing standards. So you can rest easy knowing that your property and family are safe! All of our septic tanks have Australian Standard (AS NZS 1546.1.2008) approval and have been approved for use in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, and South Australia.

Cartage Tanks that are Light, Adaptable, and Built for Australia | Global Tanks | Brisbane

At Global Rotomoulding, we make agricultural equipment and light cartage tanks that are adaptable, and built for the Australian weather.

In this article, we take a look at four reasons why we think our cartage tanks are the best on the market today!

1. Tanks that are made for the Australian Climate

Starting in 1998 as a family business, Global Rotomoulding is proud to be a 100% Australian owned and operated company. We manufacture cartage tanks that are designed for the harsh Australian weather and the hot summer climate.

For example:

  • Our cartage tanks are made from UV stabilised polyethylene for protection from long-term degradation by the sun.
  • We use a rotomoulding process that allows for greater uniformity and a stronger overall design, which is perfect for rough Australian agricultural activities.

2. Lightweight plastic for easy transportation

Manufactured from strong, food-grade safe polyethylene, our light cartage tanks have extraordinary durability. They are lightweight, easy to move, and are designed for use on the back of a truck or trailer with a simple pin mounting system.

The best part? Due to their polyethylene construction, our cartage tanks are very easy to clean and offer great rust resistance, which means that they have a longer lifespan and a lower risk of leakage.

3. More than just water cartage

Our cartage tank range is well known in the agricultural industry for reliability, strength, and top-notch quality. But these lightweight, adaptable cartage tanks offer so much more than just water cartage. They can be used for a wide variety of applications including:

  • Portable herbicide and pesticide delivery
  • Liquid fertiliser spray
  • Dust suppression
  • Livestock hydration
  • Fuel transportation
  • Molasses storage
  • Spot fire and ember extinguishing

4. Adaptable rotomoulding design

At Global Rotomoulding, we have a wide selection of different sized cartage tanks from a small 35-litre tank right up to a large 15,000ltr tank.

All of our cartage tanks come with the option to mould in a sump to assist with drainage and cleaning, and many have the option of coming with or without feet.

We have also recently added the option to add Baffle Bones to our cartage tanks to help control liquid surges, improve driver control, and lower your vehicle’s maintenance costs.
